Pros: If you do not stack them, they don't get hot. 3 months to die? And Hauppauge only offers a 720 day parts & labor warranty? It was a waste of $140- I would not recommend this product to anyone. It lasted for years, so I trusted the Hauppauge name. Overall Review: I had the Hauppauge WinTV-PVR-USB2. MC still recognizes that it's there I just get a blank screen! I would close out MC power off the unit, unplug it wait a couple of minutes then it would work again. After almost 3 months the unit would randomly shut down. So I moved it away from all heat sources, barely helped. Still a good picture.Д¬ons: The IR Blaster stopped working after a week. No option to fill the screen, but whatever. When I moved it to my new system Win7 64bit, WinTV no longer worked, so I installed the Media Center driver's. On a widescreen monitor, I just set it to fill. I was using a cable box so I just had it tuned to channel 3.

And downloaded the latest drivers from Hauppauge's website (*Note you have to have the original install disc in your CD/DVD drive to be able to upgrade drivers) I first ran it on a Win7 32bit system.

To use the WinTV-HVR-1950 for TV with the Windows Media Center application, a Media Center certified DVD or MPEG-2 software decoder should be standard in your Media Center PC. Note: depending on the strength of your antenna, you might not be able to receive all broadcasts listed at TitanTV. To check the ATSC TV broadcasts in your area, go to and enter your postal code. Channel changing will be done using the IR Blaster.ДЇor ATSC over-the-air digital TV reception, a high-gain antenna is recommended. If you have a digital cable set-top box or a satellite box, the WinTV-HVR-1950 can connect via either Composite or S-Video inputs. To watch clear QAM channels, you should use the Hauppauge WinTV v6 application.ДЇor analog cable TV reception, you need an analog cable TV connection.
